Brookside Elementary School welcomed a special occasion to commemorate the beauty and importance of trees. In a heartwarming gesture of environmental stewardship, Springville City gave Brookside a sapling to mark Arbor Day, a celebration deeply rooted in fostering a greener, healthier planet.

The students, teachers, and staff gathered for an assembly where the proclamation of Arbor Day shared. The students learned that Springville is known as the "Tree City" because it has more than 36,000 trees! A Springville City tree specialist then explained to the students the type of tree that would be planted in their field. They learned that a Sensational Maple was to be planted because it could grow up to 50 feet tall and 40 feet wide. It also can live from 60-100 years.

With a sense of excitement, students ventured outside to partake in the symbolic act of planting the tree. Armed with shovels and an eagerness to make a tangible difference, they gathered around the freshly dug hole, ready to lend a hand in securing the sapling firmly into its new home.

The students were thrilled they were able to participate in such a great event! That new tree will be enjoyed by the students at Brookside for many years to come. Thank you Springville City!
