Mapleton Junior invites author Chris Crowe to speak to students

Mapleton Junior High School started a writers club this school year 2022-23. Every Wednesday morning, before school starts, eighth and ninth graders come to write, collaborate about their writing, and dream of being authors one day.

Ms. Melissa Heaton, the club's advisor, invites authors to come talk with the students about their writing craft. This past month, Chris Crowe, author of, Mississippi Trial: 1955 and Death Coming Up the Hill came to talk with the writers club about his work and shared a simple revising activity.

Ms. Heaton has other authors lined up this school year. A few are:
Emily Inouye- Huey, author of Beneath the Wide Silk Sky and
Grant Snider, author of The Shape of Ideas

Thank you for being a Nebo Hero and providing such inspiring experiences for our junior high students.
