Congratulations to Art City Elementary School, in Nebo School District, and their school PR Ambassador, Julia Murray, for earning the Nebo #Hashtag Award. This award is given to the school that communicates to their parents and students, in a variety of ways, the events and important news items happening at school. Art City Elementary has posted 28 stories this month and 76 stories for the last couple of months with 157 stories this past year. The school also has approximately 190% of their student enrollment connected on social media to get the latest news from the school. Go check out all the wonderful things that are happening at Art City Elementary:

“I have been the PR Ambassador for 13 years. Public Relations, at Art City Elementary, has really evolved. When I first started as the PR Ambassador, I helped Angel Pearce run an after-school program that involved students in journalism. Students would take pictures and write articles. Now, teachers will send in pictures and share what is happening in their classes and field trips,” stated Julia Murray. “As a parent of three children who have since graduated from the Nebo School District, I liked seeing what was happening in my children's classes and schools. I couldn't always go to the events or be in their classes. I love that social media and emails allowed me to feel included.”

Principal Lisa Muirbrook said, “We are so lucky to have Julia Murray as our School Public Relations Ambassador here at Art City.  Whenever something exciting is going on you will find Julia with a camera in hand to capture the moment so that she can share it with everyone online. She is always making sure that important information is relayed in a timely manner. Thank you Julia for all that you do for the students, staff and parents of Art City School!”

Also, Julia mentioned, “Newsletters, photos and videos on social media and our schools' website are great ways to include parents and get information and daily school activities out quickly! As I walk the halls I try to notice the ‘Hall Art’ knowing that not everyone gets to see what is up on bulletin boards. Mr. Scott Wilson, former Assistant Superintendent, visited once and commented, ‘I love seeing what children are creating.’  I try to think of any way to snap photos of even the little things happening at our school.
Many times, my posts or photos come from my faculty and staff friends! I can't be in every classroom during every lesson or activity and my coworkers are awesome at helping to send me the information. I know that if I cannot be at school, my friends have me covered for assemblies and are amazing at volunteering to help me out. This award may be in my name, but it honestly deserves to be for everyone at Art City Elementary. I couldn't do this position without everyone else and a huge bonus is that I get to call them my friends as well!”

Lana Hiskey, the Nebo Communications Administrator, presented the award to School PR Ambassador Julia Murray and Principal Lisa Muirbrook. Congratulations on a job well done!
