Mike Duncan Appointed Elementary Supervisor for Nebo School District

The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Mike Duncan as the Elementary Supervisor for Nebo School District.

Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Utah Valley University and his master’s in Education Administration at Southern Utah University.

Mr. Duncan served as the Principal of East Meadows for the past three years and Cherry Creek Elementary for seven years where he successfully implemented the Leader in Me program in 2014. In 2018, Cherry Creek was named a Lighthouse School.

Just a few of Mr. Duncan’s awards include: Nebo National Distinguished Principal of the Year 2019 and 2020 and the Horace Mann Principal of the Year 2018.

Mr. Duncan’s educational philosophy consists of the following: “Leadership is communicating people's worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves.” He believes this is the essence of what outstanding teachers and administrators do each and every day, and that there is no greater calling!

A colleague said, “Mike is innovative, people-oriented, and seeks to learn from others. He is a talented individual with the ability to overcome obstacles and look for positive solutions to problems that would thwart a less determined person. Mike is successful in establishing a genuine and positive relationship with those he leads. He consistently shows exceptional management and leadership skills.”

Serving others is something Mr. Duncan believes in. Mike has been the principal representative of the Nebo Education Foundation for the past five years and really enjoys serving in that capacity.

Mr. Duncan said, “Relationships matter the most, and we should never underestimate the importance of having fun! I love the communities I have served in and will always be a Mustang and a Croc4Life!”

Mike enjoys hunting, fly fishing, golfing, and being in Utah’s mountains. His happy place is the Boulder Mountain area in Southern Utah. Mike lives in Spanish Fork and  is married to Kellie. They have four beautiful children.
