Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

Marlies Mathews, Social Worker, Springville Junior
Nominated by: Shauna Shepherd, Jim Welburn, Tiffanie Miley

“Marlies Mathews has been a wonderful resource and help to the entire community of Springville. Whenever we are working with families in need some support, Marlies steps in with kindness, expertise, and resources to meet whatever needs there are. She volunteers to go visit families in their homes, makes countless phone calls to connect our students with much-needed resources, works tirelessly to meet needs, and provides valued emotional support to everyone she comes in contact with—students, parents, and Nebo employees. We have seen firsthand the difference she has made in the lives of our students and their families. Marlies has become an integral part of student support services at both Springville Junior High and Springville High School. We are so grateful for all of her contributions!”

Amy Colby, Speech, Mt. Loafer/Wilson Elementary
Nominated by: Sarah Sumsion

“Amy is a remarkable employee. She is very efficient and clear when meeting with parents and students to discuss a student's IEP. She is respectful and open to all discussion items or questions parents may have. She is friendly to all students in the halls and even takes on extra assignments that help the school. I've never heard a cross word from her, nor even a complaint. She is a great example of an employee with positive energy and kindness.”

Lee Gillie, Athletic Director, Salem Hills High
Nominated by: Brett White

“I have never seen anyone work so hard. He seriously takes over 20,000 steps on game days. Lee is amazing at making our visiting teams feel welcome. The refs receive a drink and snack as they arrive. He walks them out at the end of each competition. The kids at SHHS love him. As an administration, we absolutely love his work ethic. We don't have to worry about anything. We receive a ton of positive comments on his performance. Lee Gillie is an AMAZING example of Spirit-Heart-Honor-Success.”

Elaine Olsen, Teacher, Larsen Elementary
Nominated by: Cheryl Leifson

“Elaine goes above and beyond to serve faculty, staff, parents, and students. She is always willing to step in where needed. I cannot tell you all of the times that she has been willing to share materials, supplies, and resources with her fellow teachers. She has even stepped into my Back to School Night meeting to run my PowerPoint presentation so I could focus on my talking points and parent questions. She greets students with a smile, a dance, and singing. She is simply amazing!”

Lynn Teuscher, Teacher, Riverview Elementary
Nominated by: Amy Cook & Angela Killian

“Lynn is always positive and upbeat. He lifts others up wherever he is. He gives nicknames to people and uses them frequently. Lynn makes students and staff feel special, like they really matter.”

This initiative is designed to focus on "raising the bar" on providing exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who "really gets it" when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

Who Gets Nominated?
Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee's actions impacted the nominator's overall perception of Nebo School District Schools. The name and contact information of the nominator must be included.
