The Nebo Education Foundation Board functions through generous donations made by individuals and businesses as well as fundraisers where all the money goes to educate students in Nebo School District. Thank you to all those that so generously supported Nebo students through donations.

Past President Stacy Nance said, “It's exciting to be a part of an organization that improves the learning opportunities for our kids in Nebo School District. With tremendous support of local businesses and giving citizens, the Nebo Education Foundation can provide resources to teachers to enhance the quality of education for our kids in the classroom. Everyone wins when the kids benefit.”

Congratulations to the following teachers that continue to make a difference in the lives of students.

Barnett Elementary – Stephanie Galt
Stephanie Galt, an instructional coach at Barnett Elementary, said, “Thank you so much for the grant awarded to Barnett Elementary for the purchase of books known as decodable readers. The purchase of these books will allow teachers access to materials that support very strategic reading instruction that directly aligns to phonics instruction. In many instances teachers are working with students struggling to read and need materials that target specific phonics patterns. That targeted use of language is exactly what decodable readers provide. We are excited to add these research based resources to our guided reading library and help all students achieve high levels of success.”

Hobble Creek Elementary – Kiley Adams
“I am a teacher who loves reading picture books daily to my students whether they are first-graders or fourth-graders. Picture books are a way to encourage and excite students to love reading. A huge part of enjoying reading is having a variety of books to include every student, their culture, and their interests. I am so excited to have the opportunity to include more of these diverse books into our classroom. It will help my students to learn a love of reading and know that they are loved,” stated Kiley Adams, a teacher at Hobble Creek Elementary.

Principal Mike Sorensen said, “We are so appreciative of the generous donation from the foundation for our fourth-grade classroom. Mrs. Adams was thrilled to receive this from the Nebo Foundation. She now can get some books for her classroom and help her students continue to improve their literacy skills. There is no such thing as too many books in a classroom. Students thrive when they have a wide assortment of material to choose from. The foundation truly looks out for the students of Nebo School District, we are fortunate to be the beneficiaries of their generosity as well as the many donors who help support students in our district.”

Cherry Creek Elementary – Troy Andersen
Troy Andersen, a counselor at Cherry Creek, said, “The grant I submitted was to help purchase educational games and toys to restock and replace broken games and/or supplies in the Croc Cave. Our PBIS plan allows students to earn the opportunity to go to the Croc Cave as a class reward and/or an individual reward for positive behavior. Examples of students using the Croc Cave: Students who are chosen as the Top Crocs and Leaders of the Month for being great examples of living the 7 Habits, students who use their Croc Cash to purchase time in the Croc Cave, and classes who have earned reward time for meeting their educational and/or behavioral goals. As the school counselor, my favorite aspect of the Croc Cave is that it provides students an opportunity to develop social skills as they cooperate and play together. It is also a great incentive and reward for positive behaviors.

Special Education – Katrina Davenport
Katrina Davenport, a special education specialist across Nebo School District, said “Covid-19 has had a great impact on education. Our students with hearing loss have particularly had a more difficult time with the addition of masks. This grant will allow us to purchase Bluetooth microphones that connect directly to the students’ hearing aids and cochlear implants. These personal microphones will send whatever the teacher says directly to the student's ears. They also will connect to the Chromebooks and other devices so the students have access to the audio input without having to choose between wearing their hearing aids or wearing headphones. We are so excited to be able to purchase these microphones for the students. It will allow them to have greater access to their curriculum and help overcome some of the challenges they face due to their hearing loss.”
