Art City's Crystal Apple Award goes to Mrs. Barbara Miner, kindergarten teacher at Art City Elementary. The award was presented by Craig Harvey and is sponsored by Horace Mann Insurance; teachers nominate their peers for the award.
Barbara grew up in Spanish Fork and lived there until she married Allen Miner. Barbara attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She started her teaching career teaching second grade at the Thurber School in Spanish Fork, which is now the Spanish Fork City Building. She taught sixth grade in St. Louis, Missouri, for two years, while her husband went to dental school. She then quit to raise her children.
When her youngest child started first grade (1994), Barbara went back and taught half day kindergarten at Park Elementary in Spanish Fork for 10 years. She then transferred to Art City Elementary School to work full-time, where she still teaches.
Barbara has 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls; 16 grandchildren; 4 granddaughters and 12 grandsons.
Congratulations Barbara for all of your years of service.
