Every year, on the second Thursday of September, United Way orchestrates a remarkable event known as the Day of Caring. This annual day of service is a testament to the power of community collaboration and volunteerism, bringing together organizations from across the county to engage in projects that uplift and benefit local communities. As the largest corporate volunteer event in the area, this year's Day of Caring saw over 1,500 dedicated volunteers completing more than 60 service projects across multiple sites.

Community Impact

This year's Day of Caring was a significant success, with the United Way partnering with seven schools within the Nebo School District: Art City Elementary, Barnett Elementary, Cherry Creek Elementary, Larsen Elementary, Santaquin Elementary, Spring Lake Elementary, and Westside Elementary. These schools were bustling with activity as volunteers from various companies came together to make a lasting impact.

Corporate Volunteers

The event was supported by a diverse group of companies, each contributing to the success of this community-building initiative. The participating companies included:

  • Brigham Young University (BYU)
  • Revere Health
  • Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU)
  • Wavetronix
  • Intermountain- Spanish Fork
  • Canyon View Medical Group
  • Flowserve
  • Cencore
  • Hillcrest Bank

Their involvement not only underscores their commitment to social responsibility but also highlights the importance of corporate partnerships in fostering community development.

Meaningful Projects

The projects undertaken during the Day of Caring were diverse and tailored to meet the needs of each school. Volunteers engaged in a variety of activities, including:

  • Playground Game Painting: Adding vibrant and educational playground markings to enrich outdoor play.
  • STEM Classroom Activities: Facilitating hands-on learning experiences to inspire future scientists and engineers.
  • Reading Classroom Activities: Encouraging literacy and a love for reading among students.
  • Storage Solutions: Providing and installing metal shelves to improve school storage capabilities.

These projects not only enhanced the school environments but also provided students with new and exciting learning opportunities.

A Shared Vision for Community Growth

The Day of Caring exemplifies how collective efforts can lead to meaningful change. It is a day that not only strengthens community bonds but also instills a sense of pride and accomplishment among participants. By coming together, volunteers and organizations demonstrate the power of unity and the positive impact it can have on our communities.

As we reflect on this year's achievements, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers and organizations who made the Day of Caring a resounding success. Together, we are building stronger, more vibrant communities, one project at a time.
