In the heart of Rocky Mountain University's campus in Provo, an extraordinary event unfolded, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of local students. Sight Buddies, an initiative by the global organization Charity Vision, took center stage, showcasing the power of community collaboration and compassion.
At the helm of this transformative project is the remarkable Dr. Wilkins, whose dedication knows no bounds. Dr. Wilkins, along with a team of selfless doctors, staff, and state-of-the-art equipment, generously donates their expertise to provide vision care and eyeglasses for children at no cost. Last year, fortune smiled upon us as we forged a partnership with Dr. Wilkins, ensuring that the gift of clear sight reaches those who need it most.
This year, our sights are set on the Spanish Fork area, where we aim to address the vision care needs of students. The process begins with our diligent team of school nurses conducting comprehensive vision screenings in local schools. This critical step allows us to pinpoint students who would benefit from the program. While our primary focus is on low-income students, the flexibility of our program extends a helping hand to those with Medicaid or regular health insurance, who may face additional barriers in accessing essential medical services.
Thanks to the unwavering support of Nebo Transportation, students are seamlessly shuttled to and from the event, removing logistical barriers that might hinder participation. But the success of Sight Buddies wouldn't be complete without the invaluable contribution of our PTA. Advocating for the cause, volunteering their time, and generously donating funds, the PTA ensures that every participant is nourished with a warm and hearty lunch while creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and care.
